Wellington
Junior High
Wellington
Junior High School is located at 1504 Amarillo Street in Wellington,
Texas. Wellington is located in Collingsworth County in the Texas
Panhandle. Our enrollment averages 140 students. We have ten full
time teachers, two half-day teachers, two instructional aides, and
a campus secretary. Two counselors and the school nurse are shared
with the elementary and high school campuses. The junior high principal
is Don Hinsley.
Our teachers are dedicated to meeting the educational requirements
of the State of Texas. In order to challenge the higher level thinking
skills of our students, the Junior High campus offers Pre-AP classes
in English and math for all grade levels. Our smaller class sizes
make it possible for our teachers to provide more individual help
to students. We are fortunate to have advanced technology resources,
and the personnel who will guide our students in maximizing the skills
needed for the high-tech world into which they will soon enter.
The subject areas of math, English, reading, science, and social studies
are paramount to our curriculum. We also offer keyboarding, calculator
graphing, computer applications, and art to round out our student
instruction. Weare fortunate to have a fine Special Education Program,
which includes a Functional Living Center for the special needs students.

We
have a Campus Improvement Plan and the decisions of a Site-Based committee
to guide our instruction each year. We also give special attention
to the need of the Migrant, ESL, 504, and the Gifted and Talented
student.
Wellington Junior High proudly serves with the parents and leaders
of our community to help nurture the leaders of tomorrow.
