Alumni Reunions

Every year on the first Saturday in August the Wellington Ex-students return to Wellington to join their classmates and friends at the annual Wellington Ex-students reunion. The week-end starts with the block party at the Ritz on Friday night. There is lots of food, live bands, music, local entertainment, a performance by the current cheerleaders from Wellington Jr. High, the Varsity cheerleaders from Wellington High School and street dancing.

On Saturday many classes hold special reunions at various locations around town and visit with old classmates and friends. The Community Building is the place to be for the annual Ex-students luncheon and more visitation, renewing old friendships, looking at old annuals, picture taking, and a brief business meeting of the association.

Traditionally the weekend concludes with a dance at the pavilion in the Wellington Fairgrounds on Saturday night. Usually a band with local ties (many band members are ex-students themselves) is featured at the dance.

In past years the ex-students weekend has included a community theater presentation of "The Dastardly Doctor Devereaux" , the Texas Photo Booth, a sockhop, Saturday morning coffee and showing of a special movie that was popular when a reunion class (50 years ago) was in high school. Other places of interest during the reunion weekend are a visit to the Rocket House, the High School, Field House, Commons area at the High School gym, Collingsworth Museum, Wellington Activity Center, Pioneer Park, and the Ritz Theatre.
